WhatsApp and Instagram, which are owned by Meta, have been fixed after a worldwide problem that stopped many users from using them on Wednesday night. When the apps were down, people couldn’t send messages or share media files.

The problem affected users around the world. People who tried to log in either through the web browser or the mobile app were shown error messages. They couldn’t send messages or make audio and video calls using WhatsApp.

According to Reuters, a news agency, over 17,000 incidents were reported where users had trouble with WhatsApp. Reuters got this information from Downdetector, a service that tracks outages by gathering reports from different sources, including users who report errors.

In India, more than 30,000 users had problems with WhatsApp. In the United Kingdom, over 67,000 people faced issues, while in Brazil, the number was around 95,000. In the United States, about 3,200 users had trouble with Instagram, as reported by Downdetector.

WhatsApp acknowledged the issue and said they were working to fix it. They posted on X, saying, “We know some people are experiencing issues right now, we’re working on getting things back to 100% for everyone as quickly as possible.”

This isn’t the first time Meta-owned apps have had problems. In March this year, Facebook, Instagram, and Threads users also had trouble accessing these social media platforms.

In summary, WhatsApp and Instagram faced a global outage, affecting users worldwide. The problem prevented users from logging in, sending messages, or making calls. Despite the widespread disruption, the services are now back online.
