TVS Motor has begun exporting its BMW electric two-wheelers. According to recent export data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), TVS shipped out a total of 924 units of its iQube Electric and BMW EV in March 2024. The company manufactured 15,246 units of these two EVs during the same month, as per SIAM statistics.

TVS declined to comment when approached about this matter. In February, they exported 113 units of the iQube electric, and from April 2023 to February 2024, the number was 249 units. With the addition of 924 units in March, the total e-two-wheeler exports by the end of FY24 reached 1,173 units.

Previously, TVS management had announced their EV strategy, which involved developing an electric two-wheeler platform in collaboration with BMW Motorrad within the sub-15 kilowatt-hour range. Last October, TVS and BMW Motorrad unveiled the CE-02, the first EV two-wheeler jointly developed by the two companies. Production of this product commenced at Hosur late last year.

TVS Motor has been manufacturing BMW’s popular 310 cc motorcycle series for almost a decade. The partnership between the German and Indian companies will be further strengthened with the introduction of this new product, which involves joint engineering and design efforts.

The Future of Electric Mobility

The export of BMW EVs by TVS is a testament to the growing demand for electric mobility solutions worldwide. As governments and consumers increasingly prioritize sustainability, the market for electric vehicles is expected to continue growing at a rapid pace.

With advancements in battery technology and charging infrastructure, the range and convenience of electric vehicles are improving, making them a viable alternative to traditional vehicles. As a result, more consumers are considering electric vehicles for their transportation needs.

Furthermore, the transition to electric mobility is not limited to passenger vehicles. Commercial vehicles, such as buses and delivery vans, are also being electrified to reduce emissions and operating costs. This presents additional opportunities for manufacturers like TVS and BMW to expand their electric vehicle offerings.

In conclusion, This partnership between two leading automotive companies highlights the growing importance of electric mobility and the need for sustainable transportation solutions. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to rise, collaborations like this will play a crucial role in shaping the future of mobility.
