Jawan Box Office: Shah Rukh Khan’s Blockbuster Surpasses Gadar 2, Nears Pathaan’s Lifetime Record by Just Rs 16 Crore on Day 15
At the end of its second week, Shah Rukh Khan’s previous film, Pathaan, had garnered a total of Rs 458.90 crore, falling short by Rs 67.83 crore compared to Jawan, which earned the same amount in the same timeframe.
Shah Rukh Khan’s action movie, Jawan is still doing well in its third week in theaters, but its earnings are starting to slow down, which was expected. On its 15th day (Thursday), the movie made Rs 8.85 crore, bringing its total earnings to Rs 526.73 crore.
It’s the second-highest-earning movie of the year, right behind Pathaan, which made Rs 543.05 crore. Jawan has overtaken Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, which earned Rs 521.15 crore in 42 days.
According to the industry tracker, on Thursday, Jawan had an occupancy rate of 14.94% in Hindi-speaking areas, slightly better at 15.59% in Telugu-speaking regions, and 14.94% in Tamil-speaking areas.
What’s remarkable about Jawan is that it’s setting records quickly. It joined the Rs 100 crore, 200 crore, 300 crore, 400 crore, and 500 crore clubs faster than any other film. By the end of its second week, Pathaan had earned Rs 458.9 crore, which is Rs 67.83 crore less than what Jawan made at the same time.
Now, Jawan is expected to become the highest-earning Hindi film in the domestic market by the end of its third weekend, as it’s just Rs 16.32 crore away from Pathaan’s total earnings. Globally, the film has made Rs 907.54 crore according to its production company, Red Chillies Entertainment.
The success of Jawan has brought happiness to the Indian film industry. Other movies like Gadar 2, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Satyaprem Ki Katha, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani have also done well, attracting audiences back to theaters. Looking at these recent successes, Salman Khan believes that the new normal for the movie business in North India is earning Rs 500 crore or more.
He expressed this at an event in Mumbai, saying that the Rs 100 crore mark is now just the starting point, and movies are expected to earn Rs 400-500-600 crore or even more.
